Why Are My Google Ads Not Working? (Suspensions & Zero Impressions)

Why Are My Google Ads Not Working?
There are few things more frustrating for a business owner than launching a brand-new Google Ads campaign, checking the dashboard the next morning, and seeing absolute zeroes across the board.
You set your budget, you wrote your ads, you entered your credit card—so why are your Google ads not working?
Whether your ads are getting zero impressions, being disapproved by Google's bots, or worse, your entire account has been suspended, I can help.
As a Google Ads Certified Expert, I audit broken accounts every single day.
Let's walk through the most common reasons your ads have stalled and exactly how to fix them.
Reason 1: Why Google Ads Are Not Showing (Zero Impressions)
If your dashboard says your campaign is "Eligible" but you have 0 Impressions and 0 Clicks after 48 hours, it means your ad is simply not entering the auction.
Here are the top three culprits:
- Your Bids are Too Low: If you tell Google you are only willing to pay ₹10 for a click, but all your competitors are bidding ₹100, Google will never show your ad. You need to increase your bids or switch your bidding strategy to "Maximize Clicks" to force the ads to run. (Read our guide on How Much Google Ads Cost to understand bidding).
- Your Budget is Too Small: If your daily budget is ₹500, but a single click for your keyword costs ₹600, your campaign will physically never be able to run.
- Search Volume is Too Low: If you chose keywords that are too specific (e.g., "24 hour emergency plumber specifically in Banjara Hills Hyderabad for copper pipes"), nobody is searching for that. You need to broaden your keywords.
Reason 2: Why Google Ads Are Disapproved
If you see a red "Disapproved" status next to your ads, it means you have violated one of Google's strict advertising policies.
Why Google Ads Disapproved Your Campaign:
- Trademarks: You used a trademarked brand name in your ad copy (e.g., you can't put "Apple iPhone Repair" in the headline without permission; you must say "Smartphone Repair").
- Sensational Language: You used too many exclamation marks (e.g., "BUY NOW!!!") or all-caps text (e.g., "FREE PLUMBING"). Google hates "clickbaity" formatting.
- Restricted Industries: You are trying to advertise in a highly regulated niche, such as healthcare, cryptocurrencies, or financial services, without submitting the proper licenses to Google first.
How to fix it: Hover over the "Disapproved" status in your dashboard. Google will usually tell you exactly which policy you violated. Edit the text of the ad to remove the violation, save it, and Google will automatically re-review it.
Reason 3: Why Google Ads Account Suspended
This is the most terrifying notification a business owner can get.
If you see a massive red banner saying your account is suspended, all of your ads have been halted globally.
Why Google Ads Account Suspended You:
- Suspicious Payment Activity: This is the #1 cause. If the name on your credit card doesn't match the billing name on your account, or if your card has a history of chargebacks, Google's fraud algorithms will instantly ban the account.
- Circumventing Systems: If your website has malware, hidden redirects, or you try to create a second Google Ads account to bypass a previous suspension, Google will permanently ban you.
- Unacceptable Business Practices: If your landing page makes false promises (e.g., "Lose 50 pounds in 3 days!"), Google will suspend you to protect their searchers.
How to fix it: Do NOT create a new account. That will result in a permanent lifetime ban. You must fix the issue on your website or billing profile, and then submit a formal "Appeal" ticket through the Google Ads help center. Be patient; it can take a week for a human to review it.
Reason 4: The Ads Are Running, But No One is Calling
Sometimes your ads are working—they are getting hundreds of impressions and clicks—but your phone isn't ringing.
This usually means you are suffering from a Search Intent mismatch.
If you aren't using Negative Keywords, Google might be showing your ads to people looking for free information or DIY tutorials, rather than people looking to hire a professional.
It's crucial to understand the Difference Between Google Ads and Facebook Ads when it comes to intent.
